Despite the current high street gloom, life continues apace at Prinknash with the first sale of the year on Thursday 22nd January. This sale has many lots that will interest collectors, dealers and those generally interested in antiques. All sections in the sale illustrate that, despite the current climate, quality items still create interest.

John Vosper Collection is a sell-out - Results of the Simon Chorley Sale

When John Vosper attended sales in the last half of the 20th Century he did so in a market which had a glut of other buyers, sales were a social occasion.  Reserves were unheard of and lots always sold to keen collectors and buyers. His sale held at Prinknash on 11th December 2008 harked back to those days.

Quality Items were in the frame at The Autumn Antiques and Fine Art Fair at Cheltenham

Was Cheltenham a barometer of the antiques trade today?  Well clocks were certainly in demand and although a mixed result overall, there were a number of really good sales, at The Autumn Antiques and Fine Art Fair held in association with LAPADA at The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire  on 27th-30th November 2008, including a £35,000 Lowry drawing from Neptune Fine Art to a new client from Derby.

Plenty of Life in the Auction Market-Results of 23rd October Simon Chorley Sale

Amid the turmoil in world financial markets there has been plenty of life in the auction market at Simon Chorley Art & Antiques.  Perhaps some people are investing money in antiques as an enjoyable ‘safe haven’ while the banks are wobbling.  Certainly book and postcard buyers were out in force on 23rd October tempted by a fine selection of both categories.
