And the people of Chipping Campden have a special reason to be interested: Campden was where the Olympic Games started, with Robert Dover's Olimpick Games, first held on Dover's Hill above the town, four hundred years ago. The London bid for the Olympics included a reference to this centenary.

New displays open at Court Barn Museum, Chipping Campden

Visitors will be delighted by the new displays at Court Barn which will be inaugurated on Friday 25 May. On display will be pieces by the radical late nineteenth/early 20th century Arts & Crafts designer C.R. Ashbee including a magnificent silver presentation piece, a classic designed muffin dish and some beautiful pieces of jewellery which have never been on public display before.

Court Barn Museum Chipping Campden suffers a burglary


Items of silverware and jewellery of "national importance" have been stolen from Court Barn Museum in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.

Among the items taken were objects created by designer and architect CR Ashbee, one of the pioneers of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Police said the burglary happened between 23:30 GMT and 23:40 GMT on Monday.
