"Surrealism Returns" at Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum

Significant Surrealist works of art return to Gloucestershire at Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum to celebrate a momentous chapter in the history of Surrealism. Drawn from collections all over Britain, visitors can enjoy seeing pictures and sculptures by key artists of the movement including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Roland Penrose, Henry Moore, Paul Nash, Man Ray, Edward Burra and Yves Tanguy.

Aegean Summer - Paintings by Lucy Dickens at Fosse Gallery Fine Art

This is the fourth Exhibition of paintings by Lucy Dickens at the Fosse Gallery. Lucy is the great, great granddaughter of the author and chronicler Charles Dickens and she began her career as a full-time artist in 1990 having previously worked as a fashion stylist for Conde Naste and then as a freelance illustrator for publications including The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, Vogue, Harpers and Queen and Tatler.

A new title by Northampton Author -Malcolm Deacon. Book launch at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, Guildhall Road, Northampton on Sunday 21st September 2008 from 2pm - 4pm.
No-one gave Queen Elizabeth I more faithful and devoted service than Sir Christopher Hatton; yet he has been largely ignored by historians and unfairly dismissed by early biographers. The myth of him as “the dancing chancellor” still persists, the details of his life relatively unknown.

Major Exhibition of new work by Andrew McGarva at Whichford Pottery

Andrew's pots are special for their skilled bold throwing and freehand painted decoration. He has adapted the historical techniques of country pottery and English Delftware to produce a fully hand-made range of functional decorative pots for modern use. Each piece is unique and the painting an ever changing art. This will be Andrew's first one-man exhibition in the UK since 1997.

A fascinating loan exhibition of ten centuries of monastic treasure gathered over the years by the Benedictine monks at Prinknash Abbey is on show at Simon Chorley, Art & Antiques, Prinknash Abbey Park, Gloucestershire, GL4 8EX. The exhibition will include precious jewellery, textiles, chalices, paintings and furniture. The objects date from the 11th Century to the 20th Century.
