University of Gloucestershire announces honorary awards

The University of Gloucestershire has today announced the names of outstanding individuals connected to Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds who will receive honorary awards at this year's graduation ceremonies.

Honorary awards will be given to:

· Carol Francis, magistrate and community champion - Honorary Fellowship

Working In Partnership with Rockford, Illinois

Staff and students at the University of Gloucestershire are working with Rockford, Illinois to create an edible show garden at the Malvern Autumn Show.Known as the city of gardens, the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB) was at the centre of a competition for the University's students to create an edible garden inspired by Rockford.

Casting off for a cruise (on rails) through the Cotswolds

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, ever coming up with interesting ideas, is running what it calls ‘rail cruises' on Friday evenings throughout August. Colin Fewell, commercial director of the railway, commented: "We reckon the view from our carriage windows is as good as you can get from a train anywhere.
