Litter-pickers across the Cotswolds will be doing their bit this spring to keep their towns and villages clean and tidy.

Cotswold District Council's annual 'Spring Clean' event allows community groups to get out and improve the appearance of their town or village by targeting known litter hot-spots within their area.

Cotswold District Council is warning householders that it may not be possible to collect some of their food waste if it becomes frozen solid to the inside of their food waste containers after a severe frost.

Recycling soared by 30% in the first week of Cotswold District Council’s new waste collection service.

More than 140 tonnes of recyclables were collected last week compared to just over 110 tonnes under the old service a fortnight previously.

During the same five days, the amount of non-recyclable landfill waste collected has fallen by more than 50%.

Keen recyclers in the north Cotswolds have received a welcome boost from Council officials. Gloucestershire residents have been given official confirmation that they can use the Household Recycling Centre at Shipston-on-Stour, which is just across the county border in Warwickshire.
