RNLI inland lifeboat day, Croft Farm Water Park, 24th May

The Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Newent branches of the RNLI are holding an inland lifeboat day at Croft Farm Water Park, Bredon's Hardwick near Tewkesbury on Sunday 24th May 2009.

Council’s ‘People for You’ scheme comes back to Tetbury

Getting volunteers on board to help older people in the District was the theme behind the relaunch of Cotswold District Council-led ‘People For You' scheme in Tetbury this spring.

Topograph installed at one of highest points in Cotswolds

Representatives of a group of over 340 volunteers who look after the Cotswolds will unveil a topograph on Painswick Beacon this week that has been created to commemorate their 40th Anniversary. The Cotswold Voluntary Wardens were founded in 1968 and are the voluntary arm of the, Cotswolds Conservation Board, the organisation that exists to conserve and enhance the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Dozens sign up for Cotswold 'People for You' scheme

More than two dozen people have put themselves forward to be volunteers after the ‘People for You’ scheme was launched in Tetbury, Fairford and Lechlade earlier this month.

A 300 strong band of volunteers will take part in an event this weekend to celebrate their 40th anniversary. The Cotswold Voluntary Wardens were established in 1968 and have spent the past four decades working to conserve the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

'Walks on wheels' project launched on Badminton Estate

A brand new publication has been launched that helps people using wheelchairs, power scooters and buggies to enjoy walking routes across the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). ‘Walks on Wheels’ is a collection of 15 walks descriptions and maps, which help people to explore quiet country paths, villages and market towns in the area.

Face 2 Face for Gloucestershire Parents

A network to support parents of children with disabilities will be launched later this week.
Face 2 Face is a network of trained befriender volunteers who help parents to come to terms with news that their child has a disability and to offer them positive support and advice.

The scheme will be launched on Thursday 14th February at the National Star Centre in Ullenwood. Parents of children with disabilities are welcome to come along to meet the befrienders and to find out how the scheme works.

Fancy volunteering at a museum, art gallery or historic site?

On behalf of the Gloucestershire Museums Group, Gloucestershire County Council is inviting potential ‘Heritage’ volunteers to come to one of two open evenings being held at Cheltenham Art Gallery on 13th February and at the Edward Jenner Museum, Berkeley on 28th February, between 6.30-8.30pm.

There are lots of opportunities to volunteer, in a variety of roles, at museums, historical buildings and art galleries across the county.
