Moreton Show moves up the road

The annual Moreton-in-Marsh Show has announced plans to slightly move the location of the 2009 show ground.

Following the forced cancellation of the 2008 Show, the Show Society Council has looked at the situation arising from the damage to the show ground last year.  Whilst the bulk of the damaged area has been re-seeded, there are still areas where there are water filled ruts.

Diagram of the new locationTherefore plans that have been under consideration for many years have been brought forward. The show ground will be moved further west up Batsford Road, into the field previously used for car parking.

It has been decided to make the move as it will alleviate any water damage problems, as well as provide an excellent opportunity to develop the Show. It is planned to make the Countryside Area a strong feature for the 2009 Show, and work is ongoing on the new layout.

“This is a positive move to enhance the layout of the show and one which enables us to include new features whilst still retaining the traditional feel of the show” says Show Council Chairman, Nickki Eden, “The move will also be one of many ways that we will be marking the 60th anniversary of the Show Society this year”.

The Moreton-in-Marsh Show will be held on Saturday 5th September.
