Local art on show at Cotswold Council's Trinity Road offices

A collection of paintings by local artists will be on show at Cotswold District Council's Trinity Road offices until the end of March.

Sixty-five paintings by 16 members of the Somerford Keynes Art Group have gone on display in the CDC's Council Chamber and the adjacent lobby area, created in watercolour, oil, acrylic and pastel, displaying a mix of local scenes and individual reflections.

The exhibition will be on show until the end of March and members of the public can visit to see the paintings during the Council's opening hours of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

Some of the paintings are for sale and the exhibition is in place as part of the Council's Cultural Strategy, which encourages local groups to part in the artistic life of the District.

Councillor David Fowles, portfolio holder for Sport, Culture and Enterprise, said: "I very much welcome the Art Group's acceptance of the opportunity to show to a wider audience how much talent there is in our local communities. I would encourage everyone to visit the exhibition."

The Somerford Keynes Art Group is based at the Cotswold Water Park and was formed in the mid 1990s. It meets weekly in the Village Hall at Somerford Keynes and has 25 members. The group's programme secretary is Leslie Jones, former Leader of Cotswold District Council.
