“Mad Dog” Glen Dufty to swim in memory of beloved wife Tamsin

Sunday 17th May 2009, Fitness First Pool, Cheltenham, Glos. GL50 4FA

Nearly thirteen years after his 25 mile swim in the shark infested Atlantic Ocean (from San Sabastian, La Gomera to Los Christianos in Tenerife), Glen Dufty, 50, has been training in preparation for his latest challenge.
Glen, from Bishop's Cleeve, near Cheltenham, once referred to as “Mad Dog” for his love of pushing himself to his physical limits, will complete a 6-hour Swimathon in the Fitness First pool at Cheltenham in memory of his late wife Tamsin Dufty.
Tamsin Dufty's life was cut short after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. She passed away only two short months after the diagnosis in April 2008 at the age of 46, leaving behind her husband and twins aged 8 (at the time). As a physiotherapist, Tamsin touched many lives in the local area and this swim will enable Tamsin's memory to continue to touch the lives of others.

Glen's six hour swim will take place on the morning of the 17th May, 2009, his late wife's birthday. The sponsorship money raised will be equally split between Cancer Research UK and the Rowan Gymnastics Club based in Cheltenham.

Sponsorship money should be sent to Glen Dufty c/o G&T Hair, Basepoint Business Centre, Unit 60, Oakfield Road, Tewkesbury Business Park, Tewkesbury, GLOS, GL20 8SD or for donations direct to Cancer Research you can sponsor him over the web at: www.justgiving.com/tamsindufty.
