Ebrington wins gold at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2009

Ebrington and District Gardening Club has won a Gold Medal and "Best Inspiring Space" for it's entry Strawberries and Cream in the Inspiring Spaces Feature at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2009.

What a result for a small North Cotswolds village gardening club!!

Oh, to be in England, on a perfect day at Wimbledon with the glorious taste of strawberries and cream!

Ebrington's Gold winning entry at Hampton Court 2009The Club's exhibit is built around a tennis theme with a tennis umpires chair being surrounded by a tennis post and net, tennis shoes, and a tennis raquet, all laid out on real grass and complemented by a cream churn.
The exhibit is filled with flowers including clematis, surfinia, petunias, mimulas, strawberries, begonias, impatiens, climbing roses and allysum.

The exhibit has been masterminded and grown by Club members Barry and Sally Sabin of Sabin's Nurseries in Ebrington and designed by Club member
Liz Hale of Liz Hale Garden Designs in Admington, near Shipston-on-Stour.

The Inspiring Spaces feature provides ideas on how to brighten up small and difficult areas such as a patio, front garden or balcony.
Interest and inspiration have been created through the art of container and companion planting in a space of only 4 sq m. These displays feature a wide variety of themes, with something for every gardener. Displays have been created by RHS Affiliated Societies, Professional Organisations and Garden Centres.

Panels of selected RHS judges - all experts in their field - complete the judging. All exhibits are judges using standard criteria - they are not judged against each other.    

Well done to Ebrington and District Gardening Club and an extra special well done to Barry, Sally and Liz.

Ebrington and District Gardening Club
The Club is a very active and thriving club which is affiliated to the RHS and NVS. It offers a varied programme of garden visits and talks on garden related topics as well as Spring and Summer Shows.
Annual membership is £5.00 per person and this also entitles you to discounts on Dobies seeds and with local garden centres.
