Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s fire brigade to learn a few tips from Fireman Sam…
Children's favourite Fireman Sam is paying his first ever visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway – The Honeybourne Line – over the weekend of 26th and 27th September.
The GWR’s own fire brigade will be on hand too, with their fire engines – and no doubt will learn a thing or two from the popular children’s character during a weekend that promises to be filled with fun for the young and young-at-heart.
Fireman Sam will be at Winchcombe station all day on both days.
The railway is running special trains from Cheltenham Race Course station to Winchcombe and with frequent steam trains running between Toddington and Winchcombe (there’s no entry or car parking at Winchcombe station).
But that's not all! As well as the GWR's own Fire Brigade, there will be Punch and Judy and magic shows, a bouncy castle, treasure hunt, colouring and a model railway all at Winchcombe.
And to make a change from the train, visitors can enjoy a ride on a genuine London Routemaster double-decker bus which will be running between Toddington and Winchcombe at regular intervals throughout both days.
Normal fares apply (£11 for adults, children 3-15 £6.50 and senior citizens £9.50. A family ticket, for up to two adults and three children, costs just £30). All tickets allow unlimited travel on all GWR trains as well as the bus and entry into all the attractions.
The first trains to Winchcombe leave Cheltenham Racecourse at 10.15 and Toddington at 10.30. A special train timetable is operating and you can find it at www.gwsr.com or call 01242 621 405 for details.
Please note there is plenty of free car parking at Toddington and Cheltenham Racecourse stations. There will be no parking or admission to Fireman Sam at Winchcombe station.
