Fun on the farm for all the family

Warwickshire College's farm will be opening its gates to the public in a weeks time for its annual Farm Open Weekend.

The special event takes place on Saturday and Sunday 10 and 11 March from 10am to 4pm at the Nethermoreton Farm at the college's Moreton Morrell centre, near Wellesbourne, Warwickshire.

Visitors will be able to:

see lambs being born and pet the lambs
see the working dairy and newborn calves
see farm machinery
watch farm demonstrations
take part in interactive learning activities to explore where food comes from
find out more about farming
have a go on the bouncy castle and inflatable slide

There will be talks from college staff about the lambing process - from conception right through to birth and into the early stages of a lamb's life.

Refreshments will be available throughout the weekend. Please note that dogs are not allowed except for special assistance dogs.

Diane Whitehouse, Technical Academy Leader for Agriculture and Countryside Management, said: "This is a great opportunity for families and individuals to experience a real working farm, find out more about rural life and see the newborn lambs.

"We hope that the sun will be shining and we look forward to welcoming many visitors."

Tickets are £2 for adults and £1 for under 16s and can be brought on the gate.
