Tender tale of love at the Corinium Museum next month

A poignant film charting an elderly couple’s fight with Alzheimer’s is the subject of the next screening of the Rural Cinema in Cirencester next month.

The Corinium Museum will be showing ‘Away From Her’ – which has received Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta nominations for Best Actress Julie Christie – on Sunday March 30th at 2.15pm.

The film, starring Christie, Gordon Pinsent and Olympia Dukakis, tells how the 50-year marriage of Grant (Pinsent) and Fiona (Christie) deteriorates as Alzheimer’s Disease sets in for Christie’s character.

It combines rich scenery with intimate camera work to show a private world of two people in love, and how helpless they become as Fiona’s memory starts to fade. The film, just under two hours long and directed by Sarah Polley, also includes the Neil Young hit ‘Helpless’.

It is rated at 12A and booking is essential – tickets cost £4 (£2.80 concessions).
Anyone interested should contact the Corinium Museum on 01285 655611 or email museums@cotswold.gov.uk
