Half-term sport sessions across the Cotswolds

Get the children feeling fit and active during the October half term with Cotswold-wide sport sessions, thanks to The Sports Club.

Daily doses of sport sessions are being hosted at five venues across the Cotswolds by a dedicated team of coaches, who offer a wide range of sports and activities for children from 5-16 years old.

The scheme, set up by Cotswold District Council in 2005, offers children a safe yet fun and friendly environment where they can take part in football, cricket, golf, rugby, boxing and tennis.

The courses are held at a range of locations around the District, including Chipping Campden, Kingshill School in Cirencester, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chedworth Village Hall and the Coln House School in Fairford. All sessions run from 9.30am to 3pm.

Scott Burry, Cotswold District Council’s Youth Sport Development Officer said:
“This fitness scheme will continue to provide a safe, fun and positive experience of sport during the school holiday for anyone who wants to take part.
“I was very pleased with the success of The Sports Club this summer and am sure it will continue during the shorter half-term holidays.”

The Sports Club team are all qualified at various levels of sport coaching, and have First Aid and Child Protection training.  A daily fee of £10 applies per session, or £5 if you sign up for club membership, which costs £20.

Events held by The Sports Club this summer saw almost 2,000 children take part at 18 different venues across the Cotswolds across a total of 28 coaching days.
