Ceramics from Paul Priest, Mike Dodd and Gay Ostinelli

Paul Priest is a maker - a sculptor in ceramic, using pottery techniques- rather than a true potter. His use of mixed media to achieve the desired results sees to that. The finish is obtained by colouration of fired and filled clay as much as it is by limited use of glazes.Inspiration is drawn from many sources on an ever changing basis at anytime and anyplace. He uses human and animal form as a vehicle and is concerned with texture and movement rather tha exact anotomical reproduction of the subjects; the stylisation and presence of the piece being all important. May the work speak for itself.

Mike Dodd is one of the most highly respected potters working in Great Britain. His unique style is instantly recognisable. Throwing in a loose and relaxed way, his work has an intimacy that is a delight to the eye and hand

Gay Ostinelli (Details to follow)

Sculpture Sally Grant

Originating from the academic city of Cambridge, Sally studied Painting and Ceramics at Cheltenham, subsequently returning to Cambridge to study an MA in Arts Management. Sally has worked at various arts organisations including the Cube Gallery and the Arnolfini in Bristol. She has been creating sculpture for over five years and during that time her work has been exhibited at prestigious galleries across the UK. Enchanted by the beauty of the Wye Valley, Sally now works and lives near Chepstow, in her adoptive county of Gloucestershire.
"My work emphasises, by distortion, the dynamics of the human figure giving the sculpture an expressionistic or abstract tendency. I am inspired by the body's ability to communicate its emotional state through posture and gesture. I am interested in the juxtaposition of relaxation with tension and a monumental style with intimate detail. I use sharp lines with soft curves and simplified forms to express these concerns"
