Ebrington resident Professor Stanley Wells awarded CBE

Professor Stanley Wells was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for Services to Literature.

Professor Wells is a Shakespeare scholar who has been studying and writing about the Bard for most of his life and is known as the international leading authority on Shakespeare. He is Professor Emereritus in Shakespeare studies at the University of Birmingham and chairman of the Shakespeare Birthday Trust in Stratford upon Avon.

His favourite play is A Midsummer Night’s Dream but he believes that the Bard’s greatest play is King Lear.

Employment discrimination cases brought against Amazon.com

Five new lawsuits have been brought against Amazon.com Inc. by women who worked in corporate or warehouse management roles. They have accused the online retailer of gender bias, racial bias or both as well. Saying that the company favored men over women in their career growth as well as allowing supervisors to denigrate them and retaliate after complaints were lodged.
