G7 to commit $15 billion to boost girls’ education and women’s employment

When G7 Foreign and Development Ministers meet in London this week they will discuss investing $15 billion in developing countries in the next two years. This development fund will help women access jobs and build resilient businesses to combat the devastating economic impacts of COVID-19.

India’s second wave of pandemic virus makes 7 million people jobless

India’s unemployment rate rose to nearly 8% in April, a four-month high according to data from Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt.(CMI), a private research firm. The possibility of Indias economy recovering is unlikely due to the catastrophic effect of a second wave of the covid 19 pandemic. State administrations are extending curfews and lockdowns to try to curb a record surge in virus cases.

Australia’s employment minister tells extra 400,000 covid benefit claimants to ‘go get a job’

Australia's Employment Minister, Stuart Robert, has urged the unemployed to get off the dole and go out and get a job as employers struggle to fill vacancies across Australia. There is currently 1.23 million people receiving Unemployment benefits in Australia which is 400,000 more than before the Covid 19 pandemic struck last year.

7.2% of Londoners are out of work

London has become the unemployment capital of the UK as the pandemic continues to take its toll on workers and businesses in the city. This high rate is mostly due to the fact that 92.2% of Londoners work in service based jobs such as retail and hospitality

Apple watch may gain blood pressure, glucose and alcohol monitoring capabilities

Apple has been revealed to be the largest customer of the British electronics start-up Rockley Photonics.
