Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP Expresses Delight over Funding Secured for the National Star College

Mr Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP has today expressed delight that the Government has today announced a change of heart and that the Star College at Ullenwood, which provides world renown residential care for some of our most distabled students, will be fully funding for the provisional number of students for this coming acadenic year and 80 per cent of next year.

There had been a fear that because the Government had devolved funding to Local Authorities they would not be able to fund the expensive expert care that the Star College provides.

As a consequence its financial future was uncertain.

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, MP for The Cotswolds, in whose constituency the College is situated, and who raised this issue with the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP and at Prime Minister’s Questions said:

“I am absolutely delighted with this announcement because the Government has now sent a signal that they value the highly professional staff at the College and the Oftstead Award in recognition of the outstanding results which enable some of our most disabled young people to independent lives where possible. This is the lifeline that the College has been waiting for,” concluded Mr Clifton-Brown.
