What jobs are available in Southwark?
Southwark is an extremely lively area for tourists, locals, businessmen and women. There are no shortages of job opportunities in the borough, no matter the career. Cleaners, accountants and electricians are all able to apply for jobs here. The Shard, which is home to many businesses, is located in Southwark. Journalists, broadcasters and sub-editors can apply for jobs at Al Jazeera, located on the 16th floor of the Shard. The Financial Times, Evening Standard and the Daily Mail are also close by. Tiffany & Co, Sage and Duff & Phelps is also located within the high rise building. 

Ten minutes walk away is the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Artists, conservators, actors and make-up artists can all find careers in the two world-renowned cultural buildings. Just outside London Bridge station is the popular food market, Borough Market, where there is a huge number and range of restaurants offering chefs and waiter staff employment. The northern end of the borough opposite the Square Mile includes the huge global brands PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. The other side of the borough is Peckha, a vibrant area and home to many local artists and music venues and independent restaurants such as Levels and Four Quarters.

London South Bank University is located at the Elephant and Castle and hires over 1,700 people. The University of the Arts London and King’s College London campus’ are also located in Southwark. Teachers, librarians, janitors and researchers can find plenty of opportunities at the universities. The Elephant and Castle area is also home to one of the world’s most popular clubs The Ministry of Sound. 

What is it like living in Southwark?
The London borough of Southwark is one of the 33 boroughs that make up Greater London and is located just south of the River Thames. Most of the wards are up and coming, including Camberwell, Bermondsey and Peckham. Travel in the area is some of the best in London, with the Northern Line and Jubilee Line passing through. London Bridge train station is the perfect link between London and the rest of the country. The average house price for a property in Southwark is around £614,000.
