Aspiring writers, novelists and journalists can find many opportunities in the thriving city. 

Leeds has made a point of focusing on developing its financial and business services and the creative and cultural sector. Companies are on a constant lookout for creative designers and graphic designers to improve the feel of the business. Finance is perhaps the most pivotal to Leeds’ global reputation, with nearly a quarter of a million people across the city region employed in the sector. 

Job trends in Leeds
Leeds is home to the UK’s fifth-largest shopping location, so retail and wholesale are a large part of the economy. Housing and construction have £4.3 billion worth of schemes to be completed within the decade. The city has also drawn in head offices of various top companies such as Asda, which employs over 3,000 people. Other major employers include Rockstar Games, which created the game Grand Theft Auto; they also have an office in the area.

The Lonely Planet has deemed Leeds to be the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’ due to its many luxurious stores such as Harvey Nichols and John Lewis. Within half an hour of the hectic lifestyle of the City is the Yorkshire Dales or the historical Roman City of York. The average price for a semi-detached 3-bedroom house in this area is just under £220,000, but many cheaper areas surround the city.
