St. John’s Church in Chipping Sodbury today announced its programme for the second annual Nativity Crib Festival (1) to be held from Wednesday 5th December and Sunday 9th December.

‘The Crib Festival was such a success last year, attracting over three thousand visitors, that we decided it would be a fantastic addition to our calendar’ said St.John’s Rector, Canon Jane Kenchington.

The Festival includes an inspiring collection of nativity cribs from around the globe, many of which are gifted or loaned and represent
contemporary and traditional cultures.

The Festival begins on Tuesday 4th December when the Bishop of Gloucester officially opens the event. Public Viewings (2) are held each day.

A special guest appearance by ‘Joseph the Camel’ will be one of the highlights this year. Joseph will lead a ‘Living Crib and Lantern Procession’ on Friday 7th December. Starting in Horseshoe Lane at 5.30pm the procession leads people to St. John’s Church for a performance by Chipping Sodbury School Choir and a Living Crib outside the Church.

‘The inclusion of a living crib with live animals proved to be a huge attraction for people attending last years Victorian Day (3) celebrations and helped us to raise much needed funds for the Church and local charities – we are really looking forward to another successful year’, continued Canon Jane.

The Church welcomes offers of crib sets to display in the exhibition and anyone interested should contact the church on 01454 313159.
