Popular country pub the Plough Inn at Finstock has been sold to Midlands hospitality sector veteran Guy Wallis.

The deal – broked by Peter Brunt at Colliers International – has gone down well with locals who packed the pub this week following a refurb and re-launch.

Guy Wallis previously ran the Meynell Arms in Abbots Bromley near Stafford, the Belper Arms near Measham in Leicestershire and the Golden Cross in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Built in 1772 the Plough Inn at Finstock, north east of Witney is Guy’s first foray into the Cotswolds.

Son Jordan will once again join up with Guy as head chef, with a good value food offering expected to make up to half the takings.

With its thatched roof, lowbeamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and flagged floors, the Plough is renowned across Oxfordshire as a characterful village pub complete with feet warming inglenook.

Colliers International Hotels director Peter Brunt said the Grade II Plough Inn offered very good value.

He said: “This is a genuine country pub with a thatched roof which has recently been renewed and there is also a fabulous inglenook fireplace to give the pub a focal point and heart.

“The Plough has a reputation for its excellent real ale offering coupled with good food and attracts a loyal following from the surrounding area as well as many visitors.

“I sell the majority of the businesses that change hands in this region and Ian confident the plough inn will prove to be very good value for money indeed.”

The Plough is the only pub in Finstock, north east of Witney. The thriving village has a railway station from which commuters can travel to London Paddington in less than two hours.
