A charming pub in the heart of Cider with Rosie country is on the market with sector experts Colliers International.
The Rose & Crown in Nympsfield, is a characterful watering hole situated in the pretty Stroud Valleys just 20 minutes from Cheltenham racecourse near the tourist hotspot of Woodchester Mansion – where HRH Prince of Wales is a patron.
Hotels director Peter Brunt said the landmark pub was known as a centre of excellence across the region and had served the local population since the mid-1800s.
“The Rose & Crown is one of those archetypal country pubs of huge character which Laurie Lee would have loved. The pub offers 80 covers and three letting bedrooms as well as a spacious two bedroom flat.”
The pub is available on a nil premium tenancy agreement and the owners will invest in additional bedrooms.
Peter Brunt said the grade II listed Rose & Crown boasted a spectacular double height restaurant, a bar seating 36 complete with mullion windows as well as substantial single storey outbuildings that could be converted into three boutique bedrooms.
There are plans to revamp the exterior and provide a beer garden subject to the usual permissions.
Peter Brunt said: “Nympsfield itself is proper village with two churches and primary school as well as Rose & Crown.”
On the path of a former Roman road which ran from Cirencester to Arlingham there is also a Neolithic burial site nearby which draws many visitors and walkers.
“It’s a big draw for the Cotswold Way walkers as you can continue your walk to the pub without additional transport.
“The bar features an original open log fire and log burner which is perfect for warming up on a cold winter’s day.”
Other local attractions include the Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club and the popular campsite at Thistledown Farm brings in plenty of additional customers in the summer.
There are three letting bedrooms to sleep seven (two double and one family. The owners’ accommodation includes a large sitting room, kitchen, office and double and single bedroom (currently with bunk beds) arranged over two floors.
Peter Brunt went on: “In addition the small garden seats around 22. There is something of a hidden garden to the side as well with 15 picnic sets which will seat about 90 as well as a children’s play area.
“The Rose & Crown is very much the grand old lady of the village and is ready to welcome new tenants.”
