The Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury Annual Classic Car Run took place on Sunday 30 June 2013 with a record number of vintage, classic, and rare models completing the 80-mile course.

Not only a record number of vehicles, 200, but at £10,000 the most raised for Charitable causes in the events 18 year history.

Winner of the ‘Best Overall Car’ on this year’s Classic Car Run was a 1927 Donnet G2 Torpedo Lux driven by Stephen Sage of Chipping Sodbury. The Best Bike was awarded to Terence Matthews of Easter Compton for his 1958 AJS Model 20 which had been totally rebuilt.

Vehicles started to arrive in Chipping Sodbury at 7.30am and within a few minutes the street was full with cars and motor cycles preparing to depart on a route that took them through some delightful countryside on both sides of the River Severn, including the Forest of Dean with the finish and lunch at Old Down Country Park.

Rotarian Geoff Baker, one of the main organisers of the event paid tribute to all of the volunteers that helped to make the event such a great success, “the Club would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that participated at this year’s run and give credit to the businesses of Chipping Sodbury for their very generous support in advertising in the event programme.’

Since 1996 the Classic Car Run has raised over £90,000 with all proceeds donated to various charities.
