Stow on the Wold’s Grapevine Hotel opened its doors on Thursday 16th May to local dignitaries and businesses to showcase the extensive renovations undertaken by new owners Elaine and Martyn Booth. The hotel was bought in July 2012 by the couple, who also own and manage the picturesque Dial House in Bourton on the Water.
Their aim is to reinstate the once renowned property to its former glory by upgrading the accommodation, bar, reception and dining areas to appeal to both local residents and businesses plus of course tourists to the area.
Now some 10 months later their vision is well on the way to being achieved with the successful refurbishment of the 21 bedroom property. The re-launch was very well attended by local businesses including both the current (Alun White) and ex-mayors (Robin Jones) of Stow.
Elaine was particularly pleased with the reaction to the refurbishment. “We had a fantastic response to the opening and our guests were particularly delighted to see that we had retained and improved many of the original features of the hotel such as the live grapevine in the dining area which is once again flourishing after a significant amount of care and attention.”
We’ve also kept the beautiful stained glass, ‘grape design’ porthole windows in the bedrooms and worked the décor of the rooms around them. Of course we have our beautiful feature stone walls that create unique focal points in many of the rooms and these are much loved by our residents.”
To maximise use of the hotel they have also upgraded the private dining facilities which make it the ideal venue for smaller business conferences and weddings. Together with new menus featuring high quality food prepared by their award winning kitchen brigade, this newly revamped hotel is set to become the bustling centre of Stow on the Wold once more.
