What jobs are in West Sussex?

West Sussex is a county in the south of England, bordering East Sussex. There are plenty of job opportunities in the region, no matter the career. With Gatwick Airport near Crawley, there are many opportunities for residents interested in aviation, transport, warehousing, and distribution industries.

The thousands of jobs in and around the airport assist in the growth of the local economy. The Thales Group, an electrical systems company, opened a new manufacturing and office complex in Crawley in 2009. Technicians and engineers can find good careers in the company. Companies with headquarters in Crawley include Doosan Babcock Energy and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

In Worthing, there is a large service industry, particularly in the financial sector. Advisors, accountants and analysts can find endless opportunities in the coastal town. Major employers include GlaxoSmithKline, HM Revenue and Customs, MGM Advantage and Southern Water. GlaxoSmithKline provides jobs for technicians and engineers. 

Danish company Novo Nordisk has its UK headquarters at the Broadfield Business Park, providing careers for scientists, directors, operators and technicians. There is no shortage of jobs in Crawley, whether it is skilled or unskilled labour. Over the last decade, there has been significant growth in creative, high-tech industries and knowledge-intensive business services in West Sussex.

What is it like living in West Sussex?

With sunset walks along the promenade and a drink in one of the beachfront bars, West Sussex is the go-to quiet destination for retirees and families. There is always freshly caught seafood on the menu at local eateries, and the outdoor living during summertime makes for a desirable way of life. As a large town in West Sussex, Crawley is the perfect place for city and suburban requirements. Gatwick airport is 5 minutes away, and London is 35 minutes away by train. The coast is only 18 miles away. A three-bedroom semi-detached house can be purchased for around £320,000.
